A few weeks ago, we held our Brunch by Velarte event, bringing together a new family that was created during lockdown, and demonstrating once and for all that friends, or in this case neighbours, really are the family you choose. Adrián Mora Maroto was the star of this event, along with his neighbours from the Valencian neighbourhood of Monteolivete. During lockdown, throughout those difficult days of fear, sorrow and uncertainty, this young man entertained all his neighbours. He organized an event every Friday that they could enjoy from their respective balconies. He played music, ran competitions for them to decorate their balconies, and they shared their emotions through a variety of initiatives. The media picked up on the story, and Monteolivete and its neighbours became the stars of one of the few positive moments to come out of lockdown.
They told us that it all started with them thanking front-line staff for all their hard work. Little by little, each round of applause gave the neighbourhood a desire to continue to feel united, just for a little longer.
That is why, here at Velarte, we decided that this was the perfect time to reunite them, allowing them to spend time together and enjoy the bond they had formed during lockdown. They were able to have an unforgettable brunch together, without being separated by balconies. All the appropriate measures were taken to ensure the safety of each and every one of the attendees.
Adrian was the perfect host, as he invited some of his neighbours to a enjoy a delicious snack from the range of Velarte products. With a familiar atmosphere, a good time was had by all. They shared their lockdown stories, and made new memories away from their balconies, eating together and enjoying each other’s company.
They told us how they had lived during the lockdown months, and they all agreed that, even though it had been difficult, they had never before felt as close to one another as they did in isolation. They brought the neighbourhood back to life and created a community. During the toughest times, you always need someone beside you. And who better than someone who lives just across the street?
These neighbours, who are now friends, had a great time enjoying their favourite snacks in the best of company. Because, in spite of this situation and the fact that we still have a long way to go, there are moments that unite us. We are sure that these neighbours will never forget the moments they spent together.
