Summer activities to keep everyone entertained, with no need to go to the beach

By 10 July, 2019August 21st, 2019No Comments

Close your eyes and imagine the perfect summer activity for you and the kids, your friends, your family, your partner or whoever you choose. Are you picturing it? Shall we guess what activity you’ve come up with? Maybe the beach? We are 95% sure that it is, and if it turns out that we are wrong this time, you would be the exception that confirms the rule.

The beach is indeed one of the perfect places to go in the summer, with the cool sea, the beach games, the beach bar, and everything else. Summer basically means the beach, and if you’re lucky enough to live in a coastal city like Barcelona or Valencia, in summer you have all you need. On the other hand, if you live in an inland city like Madrid or others, either you move, which is not always possible, or you have to get creative with your summer plans.

And to make this much easier for you, Velarte would like to propose some summer activities that you can do both in Madrid and in any other city that does not have a beach:

City centre terraces

City centres have now become a giant bar terraces with a variety of drinks and food on offer. This is a perfect way to enjoy the company of either your friends, your partner or even the little ones, because if the terrace is in a square, the kids can run around and play without bothering anyone. And the best part is that many of the terraces already have misting fans to help us stay cool and forget the heat of the city.

Autocine or summer cinemas

A great summer activity in any city, whether by the coast or not, is going to the Autocine or summer cinemas. One option is to go to an outdoor cinema in your own car, with the sound being broadcast through your radio,  or the second option is an outdoor cinema in the street. With both options you will be able to either buy food and drink there or bring them from home, and your favourite Velarte snack would be perfect for the occasion. The film is always shown at night though, so that you can see the screen perfectly in the dark.

Water parks

Most cities have their own water parks, and their dizzying slides, swimming pools and play areas make them one of the most fun and enjoyable ways to spend a summer day, no matter how old you are.

Festivals and celebrations

All of our cities and towns have their own summer celebrations. Children, young people, adults and the elderly all put on their best summer clothes, the streets are dressed in colour, summer songs become hymns of kinship and the nights are just as lively as the days, thanks to the bands that bring their rhythm to the celebrations.

Exhibitions, theatres and musicals

Summer is the perfect time to do everything that we can’t do throughout the rest of the year. And fortunately, most cities provide great cultural activities to be enjoyed by families, couples or groups of friends.

We hope that you enjoy these alternative activities to the beach. And if you are one of those people lucky enough to have one nearby, combining these activities with the beach is also a great idea! We hope you enjoy and savour the summer as much as you deserve, and if you also accompany it with a Velarte snack we are positive that you will be able to enjoy both a great time and a great flavour.

Have a great summer!
